Lesson 1.4.1
Connect the accounts you will send from
What this costs
Free. Connecting an account costs nothing, and sending through it costs nothing.
Before you start
A mailbox you are willing to send from, and a LinkedIn account if you want the LinkedIn steps.
Every send in Kuration runs through an account you have connected, and the send silently does nothing if that account is not there. Connect it first and verify it first, because a sequence that queues against a missing account looks exactly like a sequence that is working.
- 1
Open the sender account settings
Find the sending accounts panel and look at what is already connected. A workspace that has never sent anything shows an empty list, which is the state most people are in when they first try to send.
- 2
Connect the mailbox
Authorise the mailbox you actually want replies to arrive in. Use a real working address, not an alias nobody monitors, because the whole point of the next four lessons is that somebody answers.
- 3
Connect LinkedIn separately if you want the LinkedIn steps
Email and LinkedIn are two separate connections. A sequence with a LinkedIn step in it will not run that step on an account that is not connected, and it will not warn you loudly.
- 4
Verify before you trust it
Send one message to yourself. This is thirty seconds and it is the difference between finding out now and finding out after you queued four hundred rows.
What each channel needs before it will run
| Channel | Needs | Runs on |
|---|---|---|
| A connected mailbox | Any row with an email | |
| LinkedIn connection request | A connected LinkedIn account | Any row with a LinkedIn URL |
| LinkedIn DM | A connected LinkedIn account | First degree connections only |
| InMail | A connected LinkedIn account with InMail credits | Any row with a LinkedIn URL |
| A connected WhatsApp account | Any row with a phone number |
The sequence runs but nothing arrives
- What you see
- Steps show as processed, no messages in the sent folder
- The fix
- The account was never connected, or the authorisation expired. Reconnect and send yourself a test.
LinkedIn steps skip every row
- What you see
- Email steps deliver, LinkedIn steps do not
- The fix
- Either LinkedIn is not connected, or the step is a DM aimed at people who are not first degree connections.
Replies go somewhere nobody reads
- What you see
- Campaign shows activity, the inbox is empty
- The fix
- You connected an alias rather than a monitored mailbox. Reconnect against the address you actually read.
Check yourself
0 of 2 answered1.Why send yourself a test message before running a sequence?
2.Who can a LinkedIn DM step actually reach?
Try it yourself
Connect one mailbox and one LinkedIn account, then send yourself one message on each channel.
- You have done it when
- Both test messages arrive. You have seen them, not assumed them.
- Credit budget
- Free.
