Lesson 1.3.3
Extend a template, and save it as your own workflow
What this costs
One extra column on your existing rows.
Before you start
A completed template run.
A template gets you to a generic good list. The column you add is what makes it yours. Add one, save the whole workflow, and every future run starts from your version rather than the default.
- 1
Decide the one thing the template does not know
Usually a qualifier specific to your offer: do they run the platform you integrate with, do they operate in more than one country, do they sell to businesses. One column, not five.
- 2
Add it as a column and preview it
Preview on a handful of rows. If the answers are not decisive, the question is not specific enough to be a qualifier.
- 3
Name the column the way your CRM does
Naming discipline here saves the field mapping later, every single time this workflow runs.
- 4
Duplicate the workflow without its data
This is the move that makes it reusable. You keep the column structure and the configuration, and drop the rows. Next month you point the same structure at a new input.

2.How do you reuse a workflow on a new input?
Try it yourself
Add one qualifier column to a template run, name every column for your CRM, then duplicate the workflow without its data and run it on a second input.
- You have done it when
- The second run needs no configuration and produces the same columns in the same order.
- Credit budget
- One column on a small row count, twice.
