Before you start

Course 1.1.

Kuration ships far more list builders than the Help Centre documents, and you are never going to learn them all. Learn the question that picks one instead: where does a list of these companies already physically exist in the world?

The question that picks the builder

Not "what industry is this" but "where does someone already keep a list of these". If they have a shopfront, that list is Google Maps. If they exhibit, it is a show guide. If they are certified, it is a register. If they are hiring, it is a job board. If they are reviewed, it is a review site. Answer that and the builder chooses itself.

  1. 1Thirty builders, and the number keeps growing. Only a handful are documented anywhere, which is why this lesson teaches the question rather than the list.
  2. 2The filter that matters: New list builds rows from a source, Enrich list adds to rows you already have.
  3. 3Deep Search, the one source that does not exist anywhere until you ask for it. Course 2.4 covers it.
  4. 4People Search and Companies Search query the database directly: 850M+ contacts and 90M+ companies. Everything else researches live.
Twenty four builders, filtered by what you are trying to do. New list creates rows, Enrich list adds to rows you already have.

What a builder gives you, and what it does not

Builders are wide and shallow on purpose. Google Maps gives you name, address, phone, website, rating, review count, category and opening hours. That is already enough to filter on, which is the point. Nothing here is a contact, and nothing here is a signal. Those come later, on the rows that survive.

For broader coverage, run the same builder with different words. Solar installers and solar panel companies return different businesses, and the union of both is a better list than either.

1.What is the question that picks the right builder?

2.Why run two different builders on the same market rather than one twice?

Answer all 2, then open Pull your first 120 companies from Google Maps to tick this lesson off.

Try it yourself

Write down your target market in one sentence, then answer the question: where does a list of these already exist? Name two different places, and the builder for each.

You have done it when
Two named sources, two named builders, and you can say what each one will give you as a first column.
