Find local businesses with a provable weakness
Maps and directory sourcing with a named, provable weakness attached to every lead, so outreach is an observation rather than a pitch.
4 steps not yet verified live
Tool names and credit costs in this recipe are validated. Some steps work around a platform gap that has not been decisively probed, so treat those as a workaround rather than a documented capability. Check the result before you act on it.
Where the list comes from
Google Maps and local directories, filtered on rating and review volume before anything is enriched.
The steps
- 1
Orient
Confirm the inputs, compute the expected cost, and tell the user what the run will do before anything spends a credit.
- 2
Scrape local sources
Find Local Businesses by City or Region is the workhorse at 0.05c, it turns plain English into multiple Maps searches, runs them per location, merges, dedupes and stops at your count.
- 3
Extract fields
Maps returns business name, address, phone, website, rating, review count and category. Verify each landed in its own column, downstream steps depend on Review Count and Rating specifically.
- 4
Remove closed businesses and duplicates
Check Domain Status (FREE), parked or dead domain is a strong signal the business is gone, or that the website is the opportunity. Keep the status; do not just delete on it. deduplicate_auto on phone, then website.
- 5
Enrich website and business data
Normalize Website URL (0.1c), Official Website Finder (1c) where Maps returned none, though no website is itself the strongest signal for a web design agency, so record that fact before trying to find one.
- 6
Detect weakness signals
Run only the signals the agency can actually fix.
- 7
Find the owner and contact details
Local businesses rarely have a findable named decision-maker. Public Company Emails (0.5c), scrapes emails off the website.
- 8
Opportunity gap score
Note the deliberate asymmetry: a weak online presence raises the score, but a weak business lowers it. Without the subtraction this SOP produces a list of businesses that cannot pay.
- 9
Run the shared outbound tail (adapted)
Personas: Owner, Founder, Practice Manager, Director, Marketing Manager. Signal column: the specific weakness plus its evidence. Email path: try Public Company Emails (0.5c) before the tail's Professional Email (5c).
Where the run should stop
- Closed businesses and duplicates are removed before enrichment.
- The weakness signal must be provable and specific, or the row is dropped.
