Find companies ready to leave a competitor
Find companies genuinely using a named competitor through technographic evidence, attach the citation, and segment by confidence before any claim ships.
3 steps not yet verified live
Tool names and credit costs in this recipe are validated. Some steps work around a platform gap that has not been decisively probed, so treat those as a workaround rather than a documented capability. Check the result before you act on it.
Where the list comes from
Technology data, review sites, customer pages and job postings. Each is evidence of use rather than proof, which is why confidence segmentation exists.
The steps
- 1
Orient
Confirm the inputs, compute the expected cost, and tell the user what the run will do before anything spends a credit.
- 2
Find companies using the competitor
0 creditsRun several methods in parallel; each has different blind spots. Keep a Detection Method column from the start, it drives the confidence scoring in Step 6.
- 3
Extract and normalize
Follow the numbered detail in the skill file. This step is mechanical and its exact tool ids are resolved at run time.
- 4
Firmographics
Industry Classifier (0.2c), Company Headcount (0.2c), Company Annual Revenue (1c), Business Model Finder (0.2c), Website Technology Detector (0.25c) for the surrounding stack, what else they run shapes the migration argument.
- 5
Dissatisfaction signals
This is what turns "uses competitor" into "might switch".
- 6
Identify the right buyer
The persona depends on the product category, which is why the source template lists five options. Decide once, from the competitor's category.
- 7
Switch-likelihood score
Gate: no row scores high on lookalike evidence alone. If one does, the subtraction is not being applied.
- 8
Segment by confidence
≥60. These may receive copy naming the competitor. Possible Users, single weak method, or unclear. Category-level copy only. Never name the competitor to this segment. Low Confidence, lookalikes and inference.
- 9
Run the shared outbound tail
Personas: from Step 5. Signal column: the evidence quote plus complaint theme, for Direct users only. Scoring criteria: Step 6. Run the tail on Direct Competitor Users first.
Where the run should stop
- Segment by confidence before outreach. A claim about what someone uses must be evidenced or it must not be made.
- Dissatisfaction signals are separate from usage signals and scored separately.
What you should end up with
Companies with cited evidence of competitor use, a dissatisfaction signal where one exists, a switch likelihood score and a confidence band.
