The list didn't exist. So Kuration built it.
How WeLend sourced a 3,400 strong pipeline of creditworthy Egyptian SMEs on Kuration AI, enriched, reachable and screened for credit fit before a rep ever picks up the phone.
The challenge
The businesses WeLend funds are in no list you can buy
WeLend lends working capital to the Egyptian SMEs the country's banks pass over: agri food traders in the Delta, three branch pharmacies in Alexandria, Instagram first apparel sellers in Cairo. The hard part was never the lending. It was finding the borrowers, because they live in commercial registries and storefronts, not in any database you can purchase.
Manual sourcing capped the team at roughly 400 leads a month, most of them unreachable. Apollo and ZoomInfo were no help either. Both are built on US SaaS data, MENA coverage runs under 20%, and Egypt's small merchants are effectively a blank. A static database can only return what it already holds, and it does not hold Egypt's SME long tail.
The solution
One engine: source, enrich, score, hand off
Kuration replaced five manual steps with a single automated pipeline. AI agents source businesses from Egyptian commercial registries, chambers of commerce, B2B supplier marketplaces, sector associations and Google Maps, then dedupe them, enrich every record to a verified mobile number, and score each one for credit fit.
The ranked, contactable list exports straight into WeLend's loan origination workflow. The same pipeline reruns on a cadence, so the list keeps refilling and refreshing on its own, and reps open the day with fundable leads instead of a blank search box.
The results
Lead supply was the ceiling on the whole business. Now it isn't.
- 3,400 qualified borrowers sourced in 8 weeks, versus roughly 8 months by hand
- 2.3× more qualified loan applications
- 71% of leads reachable on a verified mobile number
- 62% of lead research time removed from the team
- A self refilling pipeline that refreshes on a cadence, with no manual rebuilding
“Lead supply, not credit risk or capital, was the single biggest constraint on our growth. We could underwrite far more businesses than we could find.”
